Faf Du Plessis, IPL Form Will Help For Quetta To Win Matches In PSL: Says Sarfaraz Ahmed

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) sixth season scheduled on February 20 with a match between Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings. However, due to a breach in the bio bubble and an increase in Covid-19 cases, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was compelled to cancel the competition after only 14 matches. Stay with us to know Faf Du Plessis will bring IPL form to PSL

Meanwhile, starting in the first week of June 2021, the remaining matches of the PSL 2021 will be hosted at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Quetta Gladiators, a PSL franchise, would be aiming to start over in Abu Dhabi after a disappointing performance in Karachi.

Expects the former South Africa captain to replicate his form in the PSL 2021: Sarfaraz Ahmed

The team has now lost four consecutive matches and has only one win in their previous five games, putting them in the last place in the standings. Sarfaraz Ahmed, the captain of the Quetta Gladiators, expects that South Africa’s explosive batter Faf Du Plessis will bring IPL form to PSL

Du Plessis was in outstanding form for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the now-suspended IPL 2021. The 36-year-old scored 320 runs in just seven games, making him the league’s third-highest run-scorer. As a result, Sarfaraz expects the former South Africa captain to replicate his form in the PSL 2021 and lead the Gladiators to victory.

“Faf Du Plessis is a world-class player and overall his performance has been outstanding. I’m hopeful about the fact that the way he has maintained his form in the IPL, he will bring that form here and win matches for Quetta,” Sarfaraz Ahmed said as quoted by Cricwick.

It will be difficult for the teams to adjust to the Abu Dhabi conditions: Ahmed

During the conversation, the former Pakistan captain went into detail about his thoughts on the Abu Dhabi pitches. Ahmed believes it will be difficult for the teams to adjust to the Abu Dhabi conditions because spinners in the UAE are given a lot of help.

“The conditions in Abu Dhabi will be different and I think this tournament is on the basis of a single league. The players have changed as well so it will be a different tournament and will be tough for sides to adjust as we are going from Pakistan to Abu Dhabi. In Pakistan, the tracks are very good though, in the UAE, spinners get assistance. So the sides will have to change their strategy and come up with a good plan,” Sarfaraz signed off.
