After having a neck-to-neck to battle in the test and T20Is, team England is now ready to take on India in ODIs, starting on July 12. But ahead of the big clash, the head coach of England urged the English side as he feels that current England team is much stronger than before.
Given the changes in the two line-ups and India’s recent 2-1 series win against India, Matthew Mott said the dynamics of the series won’t be the same.
Team England, who missed their hard-hitting batters Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes in the T20Is are set to back in the side which strengthen their team. On top of that, England’s dependable batter Joe Root will also returning to the side, which is another plus point for England as they have to face a big competitor like India.
What England’s coach Matthew Mott said about team India?
“What we’ve talked about was just being a bit braver and being prepared to make some mistakes,” said Mott.
“I think if anything we could have been accused of being a bit timid with the bat. From a batting perspective, there is definitely a real attacking mindset and trying to push the barriers out there and get some big totals out there.”
“And with the ball, it’s more of the same as well. We’ve talked about being brave with the ball. Taking some aggressive options, and then just weathering the storm when we need to,” he added.
A lot has been changed in England cricket in the last couple of months as from witnessing new captains for booth red and white-ball cricket to appointing new head coaches for test and limited-over formats.
Brendon McCullum as coach and Ben Stokes as captain is now handling the charge of test side. Matthew Mott was appointed as the head coach of England’s white-ball squad. While after England’s world cup winning captain Eoin Morgan announced his retirement from International cricket, Jos Buttler has been chosen to lead the English side.
