England cricket team have played some exceptional game of cricket in the last couple of months, mainly in test cricket that have become the talk of every cricket lover’s town.
Recently they defeated the current World Champions New Zealand by 3-0 in the test series, by achieving 277, 299, and 296 in each of the three tests that too in quick times.
A lot have been changed in the England’s red-ball dressing room since Brendon McCullum has joined the team as a head coach and Ben Stokes as a captain of the side. They adopted a aggressive play formula in all of their recently concluded test games and tasted success.
Against India, in the one-off test, they even chased down a 378 runs mammoth target with 7 wickets in hand, truly defines their ideology.
However, their white-ball squad, who also witnessed some changes as they have a new coach Matthew Mott and a new skipper Jos Buttler, faced some serious defeats in the limited-over games, as they lost both the T20Is and ODIs against India by 2-1.
England back on aggressive track
Although, they have somehow managed to draw the ODI series against South Africa by 1-1, while the decider was not been played due to rain. And in the T20Is opener against the Proteas they also claimed a victory by 41 runs, pointing that they are back on aggressive track.
Team England’s dependable spinner Adil Rashid has opened up on this style of playing cricket while talking to Sky Sports, he shared his thoughts on whether England would alter their style.
“Why would we change?” he explained. “I think we’ve done well the last seven or eight years, we’ve done well in 50 overs and T20 and I think we’ll continue doing what we have been doing.”
“It’s a crucial time for everybody in the squad, the game, sometimes you win some and sometimes you lose some. But if we maintain our mindset and have that positive, aggressive brand of cricket we’re playing I’m sure we’ll do well.
“More often than not if you have that mindset and are playing with that aggressiveness and you’re fully committed to it, it will come off. I think we’re in a good place.”
The second T20 of the three-match series between England and South Africa will take place on July 28 at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.
