England grabbed a 2-0 lead against Pakistan in the first two ODI. The Three Lions had to work a little harder in their third encounter at the Edgbaston in Birmingham, but triumphed by 3 wickets with 12 balls to spare. For his match-winning inning, James Vince was named Player of the Match. Let’s look at Who Led ENG To Win ODI Series Against PAK

Who Led ENG To Win ODI Series Against PAK

Pakistan didn’t make a good start after being sent into batting first, as Saqib Mahmood pinned Fakhar Zaman. Babar Azam (158) and Imam-ul-Haq (56) put on a 92-run partnership for the second wicket to drag Pakistan back into the game. After then, Mohammad Rizwan came to Azam’s assistance.

Rizwan smashed a 58-ball 74 with 8 fours, and he and Babar put on a 179-run partnership. The latter scored his 14th ODI century, leading the Men in Green to a total of 331. Brydon Carse was the most remarkable for the British team, as he got his first ODI blast. Mahmood received 3 wickets as well.

After being reduced to 165 for 6 in 23.3 overs, England found themselves in danger. Phil Salt, Zak Crawley, and Ben Stokes all scored in the 30s but were unable to keep their teams in the game. John Simpson managed to score as Dawid Malan went for a duck. Vince, on the other hand, appeared powerful and in control.

To keep England in competition, he and Lewis Gregory put on a 129-run sixth-wicket partnership. Gregory finished with a 69-ball 77 that included 6 fours and 3 sixes. Vince went on to make 102 with 11 fours. England won due to the cool heads of Craig Overton and Carse.

Babar Criticized The Missed Opportunities On The Pitch

Following Pakistan’s collapse, Babar criticized the missed opportunities on the pitch. He did, however, seem optimistic about making a comeback in the T20I series. Stokes, the English captain, was pleased with his team’s performance.

“We couldn’t bowl in the channels consistently at the start and the sloppy fielding didn’t help either. England were really good and special credit to James Vince. In international cricket, the margins are very small and these kinds of errors cost us the game. We want to come up with a better plan for the T20Is and learn from our mistakes,” Babar said after the match.

“All the efforts from all the guys who turned up last week, I just want to say a massive thanks to the players, support staff, and everyone who made this possible. The normal personnel, a huge amount of credit must go to Morgs (Eoin Morgan), (Chris) Silverwood, and Trevor Bayliss to allow the new guys to play the way they play and be really happy,” Stokes stated.
