England Announces Players Contract for Season 2022-23

The list of 18 players on annual central contracts is out. The team includes Jofra Archer who last competed for the national team in March 2021. The two new players on the ECB’s list of full-season contracts for 2022–2023 are Liam Livingstone and Ben Foakes. Six players received increment contracts, while six more received contracts for pace bowling improvement. According to the ECB, this approach covers all three game types and results in the contracting of a total of 30 participants.

Major Players Inclusion and Exclusion from the team

Livingstone, who had a contract increase the previous year. He gets appreciation for his rapid rise in international cricket. Liam has a permanent place in the England white-ball sides. On the other hand, Foakes has developed into a crucial component of the Test team. He has been able to get a key contract as a result.

Jason Roy, was denied a full contract and given an increment contract in its place. Only Zak Crawley has received a full contract among the two controversial England openers. Alex Lees passes over.

Harry Brook, a young batsman, and pacer Reece Topley were given raises in pay. But veteran Chris Jordan, who is presently a member of the T20 World Cup squad, received no contract at all. Dawid Malan was similarly denied his full contract after being denied a seat in the test team. and was offered an increment deal in its place.

What Officials said

The ECB has chosen to provide six players with development contracts as it focuses on its fast-bowling division. Managing Director of England Men’s Cricket, Rob Key, said, “I feel we have rewarded those players who have made a significant impact over the previous 12 months and those we expect to be part of England’s plans over the next period.”

“The international game continues to evolve, and we must be mindful that we have to lead the way in player performance across the sport. The aim is to develop world-class players in all three formats as we strive to become the best team in the world.”
