Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 marked a remarkable turnabout in experienced wicketkeeper and batsman Dinesh Karthik’s cricket career. Karthik’s career and form both declined in 2019, but after being selected for the BCCI’s 15-person roster for the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022, he was able to pull off one of the toughest comebacks in international cricket.

Karthik’s return to the national squad is inspirational after a phenomenally successful season with Royal Challengers Bangalore. After the 2007 T20 World Cup, the seasoned wicketkeeper batter, whose career began in 2004, hasn’t had the opportunity to play in any other T20 World Cup.
The Indian cricket team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 has been revealed. Although there haven’t been any unexpected alterations to the squad’s initial list of 15 players, which includes four back-ups,

The great pacemen Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel’s return is the biggest plus for team India. Due to injuries, neither player could take part in the Asia Cup 2022. Both have since gotten back in shape and are prepared to make their much-anticipated returns. Neither the squad list nor the reserve player roster includes Sanju Samson.

Dinesh Karthik’s tweet:

Dinesh Karthik in the past during his remarkable IPL season with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2021 said that “The bigger vision is that I want to play for the country. I know there is a World Cup around the corner. I want to be part of that World Cup desperately and help India cross that line.”

He went on to say “It’s been a long time since India won a multi-nation tournament. I want to be that person who is helping India do that. For that, you need to be aware of so many things, try and be that player who people think ‘hey this guy is doing something special.”

When asked about the support received from others during tough times Karthik stated “Every day I practice with that intent in my mind. Credit to my coach who has put me through so many drills to make sure I get the best out of myself. As you grow older, it’s important to stay fit. I have tried my best to do it.”

Hardik Pandya tweet:

Even Hardik Pandya took a moment to congratulate Dinesh Karthik. He called Karthik a champion in a tweet. Dinesh Karthik was a member of the team that competed in the Asia Cup prior, although he only had the opportunity to play in two games.
