Standard Operating Procedures of 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL):

The IPL has confirmed thorough test procedures for players as well as supporting staff, who have to clear a minimum of four tests with a week of quarantine period before they begin their practice in UAE. Other details will be shared with the franchise on Monday.

The SOPs covered detailed information on dos and don’ts, training, and staying the 53-days league. The BCCI is yet to declare the full schedule of the league.

According to the media report, the teams are traveling before 20th August. The IPL has given permission to the families of players to travel to the UAE but they have to stay inside the bio-secure environment. The IPL has made it compulsory that every squad will need to have a doctor with them.

Testing protocols

According to SOPs, IPL has suggested that all members should be tested twice before the team travels for the UAE. As per the WHO rules, the tests should be done at the 1-day interval. They have to do it before all the members gather in the city from where they have to take their flight. The second result will have to last for a minimum of four days including the landing date in the UAE.

The staff or player can fly only if both the tests show negative. Anyone finding positive, they have to undergo necessary two-week quarantine. After finishing that period, the person has to go for the next tests twice and clear them before joining the team.

After landing, all the members have to undergo another test at the UAE airport. According to rule, every team will go for a mandatory- 1-week quarantine in their respective team hotels. During this period, the team will be tested thrice- on 1st day, 3rd day, and on the 6th day. If all the tests show negative, then they can go for training.

After that, they will be tested on the fifth day in every week throughout the league.

The same rules for overseas players also.

If Testing positive during the competition

In this situation, the person needs to get into the isolation period but outside the bio-secure bubble.

No stepping out of the bubble

The IPL has made it clear that no one can go outside of the bio-secure bubble during the tournament. Strict social distancing should be maintained. In case an injured player needs to go to the hospital, then the movement is restricted to the hospital only with the least interaction with outsiders.

One team per hotel

All eight teams involved in 2020 IPL will stay in different hotels. The franchisees are asked to book a hotel for their team.
