DC-W vs UP-W Highlights: Tahlia McGrath’s blistering 90 goes in vain as Delhi beat UP Warriorz by 42 runs.

DC-W vs UP-W Match Highlights:Delhi Capitals maintained their dominance in the Women’s Premier League by defeating the UP Warriorz by 42 runs in the 5th match being played at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The 200-plus run chase target saw a splendid performance by Tahlia McGrath, who was the lone warrior for her side and struck an unbeaten 90 off just 50 deliveries, but due to lack of support from the other end, she was unable to take UP Warriorz home.

Earlier, Meg Lanning completed her successive half-century in the league to provide her side a solid platform for a big total and also grabbed the orange cap.

DC-W vs UP-W Highlights

After steadily playing the first two overs, Meg Lanning hits the first six of the game as the ball barely clears the rope in the long-on area after she timed a full delivery from Ismail.

Verma then joined the party as she smoked a maximum in the very next over and indicated their intentions.

They collected 15 off the fifth, and 17 from the 6th over to take the powerplay score to 62 for none.

Looking in deep trouble, McGrath provided the first break through to her side by removing the dangerous Shafali Verma.

The in-form Meg Lanning though was still there at the crease and continued her destructive best.

Kapp played a small 12-ball 16 roll, followed by Alice Capsey’s 10-ball 21.

Delhi collected 65 in last 5 overs

With 146 on board after 15, Delhi scored 65 runs in the final five overs as Jemimah and Jonassen skillfully attacked the Uttar Pradesh bowling department and scored runs late to enable Delhi reach a sizable total.

Jonassen hit an unbeaten 42 off 20 balls with three sixes, while Jemimah scored notout34 off 22 balls. Meg Lanning, who has a magnificent half-century, is now the owner of the Orange Cap.

On the shoulders of these three players, Delhi was able to score 211 runs in 20 overs.

DC-W vs UP-W Highlights: UP Warriorz to chase 212 in 20 overs

The UP captain Healy showed no mercy and was off the blocks quickly to smack four boundaries in the first 2 overs.

Jess Jonasse, however, didn’t let the party going as she first dismissed the aggressive Healy and then Navgire in the fourth over itself.

Kapp then got rid off the U-19 star Shweta Sehrawat to put the UP side on back foot.

Tahlia McGrath and Deepti Sharma then steadied the ship by adding some runs for their side. Their partnership was looking good before the Shikha Pandey removed the vice-captain of UP Warriorz Deepti Sharma.

Tahlia McGrath kept the score board tickling and completed her half-century in no-time, she played a not-out knock 90 in 50 balls during the 212-run chase game, but it wasn’t enough to help her side secure a victory as a result the UP Warriorz faced their first defeat in the competition.
