DC was looking for a new captain for this IPL season as Pant will be out of cricket for a significant amount of time owing to injuries sustained in a car accident in December last year, and their search ends with David Warner.
Warner previously led the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and guided them to victory in 2016 season.
Rishabh Pant, who led the Delhi side in the previous two seasons will not be able to play this season’s IPL due to the accident he met in the last December, he will likely to miss the Asia Cup and ICC World Cup 2023, as he needs some time to fully recover from the accident.
David Warner, on the other hand, who has played 162 games in IPL, is a star campaigner in the league and also led the Sunrisers Hyderabad to their first and only title in the Indian Premier League.
Warner has scored 5,881 runs in the 162 matches and has struck 4 centuries and 55 half-centuries in the process. His average of 42.01 overall is absolutely brilliant in the T20 format with an average over 140.
