CPL 2022: Barbados Royals reveal coaching staff ahead of tournament

Who Is The Barbados Royals Coach Of CPL 2022?

Following the announcement of Trevor Penney as head coach a while back, the Barbados Royals have now disclosed that former Barbadian fast bowler Roddy Estwick will assume the duties of Lead Assistant Coach for the Caribbean Premiere League franchise.

Additionally, former Jamaican pacer Andrew Richardson will continue his terms with the team in a dual role as Team Manager and Assistant Coach.

Estwick, a well-known personality in the coaching world who has represented Barbados in both First Class and List a divisions, has previously served the West Indies Men’s Team in several capacities as fast bowling coach and assistant coach and assisted them in developing into a successful T20 team.

While, Andrew Richardson, who has experience in both the CPL and domestic cricket in the Windies from his playing days, will work with the Royals in both capacities.

What Kumar Sangakkara said about the new appointments?

The director of cricket for Barbados Royals, Kumar Sangakkara has reacted to the developments and said, “We are delighted to have secured a very knowledgeable. And skillful set of coaches for the upcoming season of the CPL. At the Royals, our aim is to create an overarching coaching structure which can extend to the CPL. With the likes of Trevor, Sid, Giles, Panish and Rajamani, who have gained immense experience. And had excelled as a unit in the IPL earlier this year.”

“These coaches, combined with the talent, local grasp and familiarisation of the ecosystem possessed by Roddy, Andrew, Neil and Sharon. Along with their long-standing association with the CPL and Barbados, will form the core coaching staff for the 2022 season. We’re excited to have them all on board and look forward to achieving our goals this year,” he added.

What’s the schedule of CPL 2022

Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2022 is all set to begin on August 31 (September 1 as per IST) with the final match being played on September 30, 2022 (October 1 as per IST).

The Barbados Royals face the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots to start the CPL 2022 season on September 1, 2022, at Warner Park Stadium at 19:00 local time / 04:30 IST
