The world’s highest run scorer in women’s cricket in all forms had a huge influence on the Indian squad, and her departure would be felt not only as a batter but also as a skipper. However, all good things must come to an end, and Raj’s reign comes to a close. While she had resigned from T20I cricket in March 2019, she continued to captain India in Tests and One-Day Internationals.
Harmanpreet Kaur assumed command of the squad when she retired from T20Is, and now that Raj has retired from all forms of international cricket, Kaur will captain India in all formats, beginning with the white-ball series against Sri Lanka.
Kaur, 33, will captain India in a three-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series, all of which will be held in Dambulla and Kandy, respectively. T20Is will kick off the bilateral series on June 23. For the white-ball series, Smriti Mandhana has been designated Kaur’s deputy.
Jhulan Goswami, who is 39 years old and has yet to declare her retirement from ODI cricket, is not in the team with Sneh Rana. Harleen Deol, a middle-order hitter who has only played one ODI, has been called up instead.
S Meghana, the Trailblazers’ opening batter, recently hit 73 in the Women’s T20 Challenge, earning her a spot.

Kaur has captained India in five One-Day Internationals (ODIs), winning four and losing one, and 66 Twenty-20 Internationals (T20Is), winning 39 and losing 24. (three matches did not produce results). In women’s T20Is, she has captained India for the highest number of matches. In 2020, she led India to the finals of the ICC Women’s World T20 in Australia, which was her highest moment as captain. At the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground, India faced Australia in the World T20 finals in front of a record crowd of 86174.
