Who will win the 5th test of IND vs ENG?

The first day of the fifth test between India and England started off with England winning the toss and opting to bowl first at the Oval, England. However, India had to start off the fifth test, with some underperforming batters such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, and Shubman Gill. Let’s have a look at who will win the 5th test of IND vs ENG?

India’s Stakes going into the 5th test

India entered this matchup, being down 2-1 against England in this 5-match test series. Having drawn the fourth test at Old Trafford cricket ground, Manchester, leaving the fifth test as their only chance to tie and level the series.

Although the pressure they face is larger, with their premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah and their hard-hitting vice-captain Rishabh Pant sitting out of this match, this is a heavy task to overcome the disparities and get the win which will level the series. At the end of the first test, India is 204/6 in 64 overs. Thanks to Karun Nair and his unbeaten half-century, India still has a chance to put up a strong score to defend against England.

England’s stance in this test

England entered this matchup without their skipper Ben Stokes, and Jofra Archer. An addition to their missing key players is Brydon Carse, who was injured on the first day, and was ruled out of the test. England, although under stand-in skipper Ollie Pope, is in a strong position, having tumbled India and dismissing the best batters, they will be determined to stop the Indian side from putting in a strong total, which can be chased easily and will put India in the turmoil to clinch the series in this final test, and claim the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
