Devdutt’s Masterclass against Maharashtra
Against Maharashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022–23 on Tuesday, Devdutt Padikkal scored a stunning 62-ball 124*. The Karnataka side’s opening batsman hit six sixes and 14 fours.
It was his third T20 century and a career-high score in T20 cricket.
His innings led Karnataka to 215/2, where they eventually won by 99 runs.

Karnataka after losing the loss came on to bat first, they quickly suffered a setback when their captain, Mayank Agarwal (28), left the field in the fifth over. Then, Padikkal, who had chosen a conservative strategy, switched gears with Manish Pandey.

Venkatesh Iyer scored 62 runs off just 31 balls to help Madhya Pradesh win the match with a total of 173/5. In addition, he produced astonishing numbers of 4-0-20-6, which helped Rajasthan score just 135 in reply.

In the 2020 IPL, Padikkal made his debut for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The youngster scored 473 runs at an average of over 30 during that stretch, making it a run to remember. He recorded five fifty-minute runs before finishing the 2021 season with 411 runs. He got both a fifty and a hundred with RCB. After being signed by the Rajasthan Royals in 2022, Padikkal scored 376 runs for less than a 25.00 average.

In an important Group C match, Satyajeet Bachhav’s Maharashtra was destroyed by Padikkal’s Karnataka side, Padikkal who raced to a 32-ball fifty. The Kerala-born athlete improved upon his previous record of 122 vs Andhra in 2019. Padikkal has guided the team to 2,329 T20 runs, scoring at a commendable rate of 136.35 and an average of 35.28. The orthodox batsman added 14 half-centuries and a third century in the 20-over format till now.
