Indian Batter Suryakumar Yadav is jumping up the ranking to be the number one batsman in T20, after his blistering knock in the third T20 against a tough West Indies side. Suryakumar scored 74 runs from 44 balls with eight fours and four six’s. His valuable contribution helped India to chase down the target of 165 with ease and take the 2-1 lead in the five-match T20 series.
Suryakumar has progressed three slots to become the second-best T20 batsman in the world and now he is just 2 points away from taking over the number one position in ICC Men’s T20I player rankings.
Yadav has been in the form of his life and with the latest results, he is climbing up the ladder to become one of the top batsmen in the shortest format of the game.
Suryakumar, who walked in to open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma, was supported by Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant, to chase down the target without any worries.
Yadav made his International debut at the start of last year and he is been growing since then to an elite level with back-to-back centuries against England and the blistering knock of 74 runs on Tuesday against West Indies took him much closer to the number one spot in the ICC T20 cricket rankings.
KL Rahul being away from cricket due to injury and coronavirus infection, Suryakumar is making a statement for himself to be the opener for the upcoming ICC T20 World cup in Australia later this year.
Suryakumar might end up being the No.1 ranked batsman in the shortest format of the game before the series against West Indies ends with still two matches left against West Indies.
Rishabh Pant with his half-century marked his career-best rankings with 469 points at 71st place.
In the ICC Men’s ODI players ranking, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has also moved up in his rankings to 12 positions after scoring a half-century in the last match of the ODI series in West Indies, Yuzvendra Chahal was also ranked at 16th position in the blowers ranking list. Rohit and Virat dropped one place each.
