Steve Smith passes Sir Don Bradman
Smith passed the legendary Sir Donald Bradman when he scored his 30th Test hundred against South Africa in Sydney during Australia’s final Test of the series.
Smith became just the fourth Australian to reach 30 century mark in test cricket after Ricky Ponting (41), Steve Waugh (32) and Matthew Hayden (30),
He reached the milestone in 190 balls thanks to a brilliant pull shot off South Africa’s Anrich Nortje that sent the ball over the boundary.
Smith also passed the totals of Hayden (8,635 runs), when he moved into the 80s. Then Michael Clarke (8,643), as he is rapidly reaching 9,000 Test runs. He currently trails Steve Waugh, Allan Border, and former captain Ricky Ponting on the list.
Smith was with Usman Khawaja when he started at 54* on Day 1 and hit his fourth consecutive century in Sydney.
