Mignon du Preez Retirement: Mignon du Preez, a South African batter, retired from all international cricket on Friday, December 9. After competing in the 2022 World Cup in New Zealand, the 33-year-old batsman announced his retirement from Test and ODI cricket in April of that same year.
Du Preez’s nearly 16-year career came to an end as a result. The South African-born batsman will still compete in international T20 leagues, though.

In January 2007, du Preez made his debut in international cricket at the age of 17. And he went on to amass a lot of runs for South Africa across all three forms. Du Preez participated in one Test, 154 ODIs, and 114 T20Is, amassing 5684 runs and three hundred. Her highest ODI score, 116 unbeaten, came against Ireland in Dublin in August 2016.

Mignon du Preez, a South African cricketer born on June 13, 1989, captained the women’s side in all three formats of the game from 2007 to 2018 Test, ODI, and T20I. At the age of 17, du Preez made her debut for the South Africa national women’s cricket team in January 2007 as a right-handed batter and occasionally as a wicketkeeper.

Du Preez’s nickname is “Minx.” She and her husband, urban planner Tony van der Merwe, were wed on December 5, 2015. Du Preez was brought up in a Christian home and gave her life to Jesus at the age of 10 while attending a youth conference.
du Preez’s Comments after the announcement
Preez became emotional after releasing the statement and was quoted saying “Fifteen years of international cricket, WOW. What a blessing it has been. It’s never an easy decision to step away from something you love as much as I love cricket. But I know in my heart that the time is right for me to announce my retirement from all forms of international cricket.”
She finished off by saying “However, I will still continue to play the shorter format of the game in the global leagues until such a time that I am blessed to become a mom and start a family of my own.”
