Ganguly declared last week that he will run in the upcoming Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) elections after Roger Binny took over as BCCI president, but now he has since made the decision.

Avishek Dalmiya, Jagmohan Dalmiya’s son, took over as CAB president after his father left to become the BCCI’s president. After the expiration of Avishek Dalmiya’s term, Snehasish Ganguly, Sourav’s brother, will assume leadership.

Snehasish declared that elevating Bengal cricket to the “next level” would be his top priority.
He declared, Now that things are returning to normal [following Covid-19], we are making sure that cricket whether it be men’s, women’s, or age group cricket gets the utmost priority. He added that the CAB has already begun making plans for the ODI World Cup in 2019.
