Scotland all set to play first-ever ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup

Scotland all set to play their first-ever ICC under-19 as they booked their tickets to ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 after a series win against Netherlands.

Katherine Fraser-led side did a superb job by winning the first-two games to secure their place in the tournament to be played in South Africa. Scottish secured a nine-wicket win in the second match to claim a dreamy lead of 2-0. Then they went on to win the third game by 123 runs, courtesy Ailsa Lister and Darcey Carter smashing centuries.

Ailsa Lister scored the most runs in the series with 155 in 3 games at an average of 51.97, including a smashing century. While scoring these many runs she also maintained a destructive strike-rate of 182.35, with a best score of 107.

Robyn van Oosterom, the only Dutch batter, who showed some fighting spirit and played a knock of 39 and 43 runs in second and third game.

Bowlers of Scotland did an excellent job throughout the series as they managed to restrict the Netherlands to 78, 94/7 and 100/7 in these matches.

Most of the praise goes to the skipper of Scotland Fraser, who rotated the bowlers brilliantly.

With the series win against Netherlands, Scotland has now joined Indonesia USA and UAE as Associate qualifiers for the tournament.

Interestingly, Indonesia too will make their first entry in the World Cup in any format because of their superb performance against Papua New Guinea, in which they have defeated them in a three-match series.

The African Qualifier in Botswana in the coming month will finalize which team will grab the remaining one spot for the tournament. The hosts will welcome Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Uganda.

The first-ever ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup will be hosted by South Africa and it be played in January next year.
