Hardik Pandya has instantly become everyone’s favorite due to what he achieved during the last two months. Here in this article, we talk about the comment of Sanjay Manjrekar on Hardik Pandya that he sees shades of MS Dhoni in Hardik Pandya.
The 28-year-old Pandya, who was appointed as the captain of the new team Gujarat Titans, left everybody stunned with his brilliant captaincy skills and his approach to winning games at any costs.
He led his debutant team to win the IPL 2022 edition and considering his heroic talent as a skipper many are predicting him a captain of team India in near future.
Cricketer-turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has expressed his views on the same and even compared Pandya with the iconic MS Dhoni.
“Hardik Pandya bowled well. In batting too, he batted in all gears while playing at the crucial No.4 spot. He captained the team like MS Dhoni. R Sai Kishore bowled the 16th and 18th overs in the final,” Manjrekar told ESPNcricinfo.
Manjrekar also said that he shades of MS Dhoni in Hardik Pandya and his captaincy which is one of the biggest compliments the right-hand batter has ever received.
“His captaincy was similar to MS Dhoni’s, as he made the decisions according to match situations. He seems to be enjoying the captaincy and looks very relaxed,” he further added.
The legendary MS Dhoni, who was appointed as the captain of team India ahead of the T20 World Cup, witnessed a similar outing as he led the team to win the inaugural T20 World Cup. Then Dhoni completed every Indian’s dream of winning the ODI World Cup in 2011. India won the Champions Trophy in 2013 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. While in IPL, Dhoni-led CSK (Chennai Super Kings) to 4 IPL titles (2nd highest).
However, it’s too early to compare Pandya with MS Dhoni but his performance as a player and skipper assured everyone that he can surely make an impact if he is appointed as captain of team India in the coming years.
During the night of the IPL 2022 final, Hardik Pandya shined like the brightest star. The skipper of GT took a charge and performed extremely well both with bat and bowl. He recorded the best figures of his IPL career as he grabbed 3 wickets by giving just 17 runs in 4 overs to stop the Rajasthan Royals to just 130 in a high voltage final game.
