The Indian Test squad, captained by Rohit Sharma, is now in Leicester, preparing for the fifth postponed Test against England, which will be held at Edgbaston in Birmingham from July 1 to 5. The Test series is now 2-1 in India’s favor. For the Test, India has chosen a strong 17-member squad, and all eyes will be on the squad, which is just a draw away from completing a historic series victory. India is now ranked No. 2 in the ICC Test rankings, while England, spearheaded by Ben Stokes, is at No. 6.
The Rohit Sharma-led team is now practicing in Leicester and will be there for one week. On Monday, the BCCI shared a few photos from the training session.
Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid has stated that he enjoyed playing Test cricket in England and that coaching a Test squad is something he enjoys doing. He believes that the one-off ‘fifth Test’ against the hosts will be a different prospect than last year when the side led 2-1 before the last game was canceled because of Covid-19 instances in the India camp.
“England is performing well right now, and this year will be different from the previous year when England was likely on the backfoot. They’ve had some terrific games, and we’ve got a fantastic team as well “Dravid was alluding to England’s series victory against New Zealand, which was won by Ben Stokes’ team.
“I enjoyed playing Test cricket, watching Test cricket, and coaching Test cricket, so you know, I’m looking forward to it,” he said.
