Rilee Rossouw Hits Fourth Fastest Hundred In T20 World Cup, Of This Edition

This is Rossouw’s second T20I hundred. His last ton came against India in the third and final T20I in Indore. Where he smacked 100 off 48 balls with his good form.

On Thursday, Rilee Rossouw scored the first century of the 2022 T20 World Cup against Bangladesh in Sydney. He did it off 52 balls. He is the first South African to reach a century in a T20 World Cup.

Standings at the ICC Table:

The fourth-fastest hundred in a T20 WC is currently held by Rossouw. Third, on the list and off 51 balls were Brendon McCullum against Bangladesh in 2012. Chris Gayle now owns the record for both the quickest and second-fastest hundreds. Both coming off 47 balls in 2016 and 50 balls in 2007.

With his second consecutive T20I hundred, Rossouw becomes just the second batter, after Gustav McKeon of France, to accomplish the feat in men’s T20Is. In the third and final T20I in Indore, Rossouw hit his first T20I century as South Africa posted their fourth-highest total in the format and India faltered in its pursuit of 228.

Only a few days after breaking the record for the youngest player to achieve a T20I century. Opener McKeon altered history by becoming the first player to hit back-to-back T20I centuries.

McKeon scored 101 runs off 53 balls against Norway at the 2024 T20 WC Europe Sub-Regional Qualifier Group B in Finland in July of this year, following up his 61-ball 109 against Switzerland.

Quinton de Kock and Rossouw shared a second-wicket stand of 163 runs in 85 balls before de Kock was dismissed for a score of 38. Rossouw eventually got out for 109 off 56 balls after hitting seven fours and eight sixes.
