Rahul Dravid warns Indian team:
The Rohit Sharma-led side is all to face England in the one-off test against England starting July 1. But ahead of the big clash, the head coach of India issued a warning for the Indian side as he feels that current England team is much stronger than before.
Given the changes in the two line-ups and England’s recent success against the current test Champions New Zealand with 2-0, and with one match left yet, Dravid said the dynamics of the series won’t be the same.
Team India were 2-1 ahead when the last game of the 5-match test series at Old Trafford was cancelled due to increase in Covid-19 cases in Indian camp and Edgbaston will now host the game from July 1.
However, when last time India played England last year, Virat Kohli was the captain of the side with Ravi Shastri was the head coach. A lot have changed from then as Virat left his captaincy and Rohit Sharma took over captaincy of all formats.
While the tenure of Ravi Shastri was completed after the T20 World 2021 and Rahul Dravid was appointed as the new head coach of team India.
As both teams gear up for the Test at Birmingham India head coach Rahul Dravid has warned his side not to be complacent against this England side who are coming into the series on the back of two wins against a strong New Zealand side.
“In terms of the Test match, it is going to be exciting. For us, it is a one-off Test match, but it’s World Test Championship (WTC) points. It’s a series on the line for the guys who played a part in it (last year), and they are very keen to try and win that series and do well. So looking forward to that,” said Dravid after the fifth T20I at Bengaluru was abandoned due to rain.
The Indian players have reached London couple of days back and instantly started training to gear up for one of the most anticipated tours of the year. They will play a 4-day warm-up match against Leicestershire starting on June 23.
Apart from the one-off test, India will play a 3-match ODI and a 3-match T20 series against England during the tour.
