Sussex Cricket New Head Coach: After serving as the sporting director for Warwickshire for the previous three years. The former England assistant coach now joins the team.
Paul Farbrace, a former Sri Lanka manager and assistant coach for England. He has been named head coach of Sussex after leaving Warwickshire. The 55-year-old Kent native Farbrace fills the void created by Ian Salisbury’s resignation as head coach on September 30. From 2015 to 2019, Farbrace collaborated with Trevor Bayliss, the head coach of England.
After three years in charge, he announced his resignation in August before departing to relocate to Birmingham to take the position of sporting director for Warwickshire.

Sussex Cricket New Head Coach Paul Farbrace expressed his excitement at joining Sussex and expressed his thoughts stating “I’m delighted to be joining Sussex and I’m really looking forward to helping everyone at the club to achieve their ambitions. It is a fantastic club that has produced many fantastic players for both Sussex and England.
“I am really looking forward to the opportunity of working with the players and coaches to drive the performance of the team forward. We must be very focused on developing our own players. As well as developing players to play for England at all levels, but also winning trophies for the members and the club.”
Farbrace’s Previous Works
As Warwickshire’s sporting director for the last three years. Farbrace has been responsible for their double County Championship and Bob Willis Trophy victory in 2021. Between 2015 and 2019, he assisted Trevor Bayliss in coaching England. He has also held the position of head coach of Sri Lanka, leading them to victory in the T20 World Cup in 2014.
The Bears managed to avoid relegation on the penultimate day of the previous season in a somewhat miraculous escape, winning the County Championship in 2021. Farbrace joins a young Sussex team that competes in Division Two for red-ball cricket. His stepson, England paceman Ollie Robinson, also works at Hove.

When we made the decision to return to one head coach across all formats and I am confident he will enable our team to fulfil its full potential.”
