In 1989 and 1990, his uncle Greg Campbell participated in Test cricket for Australia. Initially residing in Prospect, 2.5 miles south of the city center, Ponting’s parents later relocated to the working-class neighborhood of Newnham, 6 miles north of the heart of Launceston.
