NED vs ZIM Match Highlights
NED vs ZIM Match Highlights: Zimbabwe’s chances of making it to the semifinals have been dashed completely by the Netherlands, who won easily and convincingly by five wickets. A batting collapse on each side of Sikandar Raza and Sean Williams’ partnership brought about its demise.
Similar to the early strike, a brief stretch of wickets ultimately sandwiched by a pivotal 73-run partnership between Tom Cooper and Mx O’Dowd. The Netherlands won the match handily, making it a one-sided contest.
NED vs ZIM: Earlier in the Match
Bowling has been the superior unit for the Netherlands in this tournament, especially their pacers. The Zimbabwe openers have been struggling for runs throughout, and with this powerplay too they lost three wickets for just 20 runs.
Zimbabwe found a revival through who other but Sikandar Raza, who came out all guns blazing. He scored 40 off just 24 balls, dominating the middle phases of play. However, he holed out to a Bas de Leede short ball, and after that wickets kept tumbling.
The Dutch team finished strong as none of the Zimbabwe tailenders could get to double digits, and on a good batting deck, this should be easily chased. However, this is a Netherlands team that hasn’t really clicked so far with the bat, against a Zimbabwe bowling unit that has already defended a small total once against better opposition.
NED vs ZIM: Player of the Match
Max O’Dowd received the player for the match for his Incredible knock of 52 runs from 47 balls. After the match he stated “Pretty scrappy to start, I was trying to adapt to the conditions as quickly as possible. Took a while to adapt against those tall Zimbabwe bowlers. There was more movement in the wicket when we were bowling. I could trust the bounce, we were pretty lucky.”
Max ODowd Crucial Knock
After the Netherlands lost an early wicket it was Max ODowd who held the inning along with Tom Cooper to guide the Netherlands to a five-wicket victory. Max scored 52 runs off 47 balls with eight fours and one six with a strike rate of 110.64.
Zimbabwe Bowlers
Ngarava and Muzarabani both tried to stop the Netherlands batsman but were only able to do it to an extent but after that, they failed to stop the opposition. Both the bowlers picked up two wickets. L Jongwe picked up one wicket.
