The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee is likely to attend the qualifier 1 of the IPL 2022 playoffs at Eden Gardens on Tuesday.
The Cricket Association of Bengal invited the honourable CM to attend the playoffs at iconic Eden Gardens and in reply, CM thanked the Cab for inviting her for playoff games.
In a letter she said, “Thank you so much for inviting me at the IPL play-off matches at Eden Gardens.”
“It is a matter of great joy that Kolkata will once again play host to the IPL and cricket enthusiasts of Bengal, after a long wait, will get the opportunity to witness the flavour and excitement of one of the best T20 tournaments in the world. My heartiest congratulations to CAB and its stakeholders for making all this possible,” she added.
Due to Covid-19 concern, the league stage of IPL (70 matches) were all played in Mumbai and Pune, and this is this will be the first match outside Mumbai and Pune after nearly two months.
The oldest stadium of India will host the qualifier 1 between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals on May 24.
According to the weather reports, there are high chances of rain in the evening today which might spoil the fun of qualifier 1. Although Eden Gardens has one of best drainage systems and when the rain stops, we can see the action right after 30 minutes.
