LSG vs KKR Match Summary:
Kolkata Knight Riders failed to chase the 177-run target as they lost to Lucknow Super Giants by 75 runs in the 53rd match of the ongoing IPL 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association in Pune.
Kolkata had a dreary start as they lost their four top batters at just 25 runs. Baba Indrajith was out on a golden duck, Aaron Finch again failed and made only 14, Captain Shreyas Iyer scored just 6, while Nitish Rana was bowled out by Avesh Khan when he was at 2.
Andre Russell tried his level best and played a quick 45 runs knock, followed by Sunil Narine, who made a quick 22 in 12, but their cameo innings wasn’t enough to help Kolkata win the game.
Lucknow Super Giants was invited to bat first and they witnessed a heartbreak in the very first over itself when they lose their captain KL Rahul without scoring. But Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda hold the team’s shrinking boat and build a strong partnership of 71 runs in just 39 deliveries before de Kock was dismissed after scoring a quick half-century.
Deepak Hooda continued to hit boundaries while Krunal, on the other hand, was supporting him with singles, the partnership looks good but in trying to hit a big six Hooda 41 (27) mis-hit the ball and caught at the mid-wicket. Krunal too got out after Hooda.
After the 16 overs, they only managed to put 126 on board, and with a tight over of 7 runs from Mavi followed by a 9 run over by Russell, the team was in danger of ending up with a low total after a promising start in the first 10 overs. Stoinis then turned the tables and hit 3 muscular sixes into the leg side, though he got out on the fourth delivery while trying to hit another maximum, the new batter Jason Holder too follow the suit and smashed 2 consecutive sixes in the 19th over.
Tim Southee bowled the fantastic final over for KKR and gave only 4 runs to restrict LSG to 176/6.
