DC vs SRH Match Highlights:
Delhi Capitals recorded their fifth win of the season as they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 21 runs at the Brabourne Stadium on Thursday.
Chasing 208 to get back into the winning circle, Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to build on a solid opening partnership from Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson.
Both openers were dismissed early, and Rahul Tripathi followed suit, returning to the pavilion when the Sunrisers were only 36. Aiden Markram then played a solid knock of 42 off 25 balls and added 60 runs for the 5th wicket with Nicolas Pooran before Khaleel Ahmed trapped the former in his fuller length wide-off delivery.
The West Indies’ newly appointed white-ball skipper, Nicolas Pooran, did everything he could to help his team achieve two points on the points table by hitting 62 runs. However, due to a lack of support from the other end, he was unable to assist his team in winning the game.
Earlier, Sunrisers started the game on a strong note when Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled the maiden first over with the wicket of Mandeep Singh. Mitchell Marsh who came in at 3, shot 2 fours before Sean Abbot dismissed him on 10.
David Warner, on the other hand, was in some other mood and was playing his natural destructive game from the other hand. Rishabh Pant too did play some good shots but got out after scoring a quick 26 off 16 balls.
Warner saved his best for his former franchise as he smashed 12 boundaries and three sixes to remain unbeaten on 92. While Rovman Powell equally participated in the destructive theme set by Warner. Powell scored a breathtaking 67 off 35 balls powered by 3 fours and 6 sixes as Delhi Capitals scored 207/3 in 20 overs.
Even after Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Sean Abbot had given SRH a bright start with the wickets of Mandeep Singh and Mitchell Marsh, respectively. Except for Bhuvneshwar, the other bowlers didn’t contribute much, as every SRH bowler’s economy was well above 9.
Player Of The Match: David Warner
With this win, Delhi Capitals moved to the fifth spot in the IPL 2022 points table.
