Rishabh Pant missing from ODI squad: The Indian cricket board (BCCI) released the squads for the forthcoming home white-ball series against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. Rishabh Pant was one of the noteworthy omissions from both the ODI and the T20I squads. Ishan Kishan was chosen by India to play both ODI and T20 cricket. KL Rahul was also listed as a potential wicketkeeper for the ODIs.
Though Pant’s status as a wicketkeeper-batter was not mentioned by the BCCI in its news release, it has come to light that the organization has called for him to go to the National Cricket Academy so he may work on his strength and fitness.
It is understood that he has been asked to report to the NCA for a knee-strengthening rehabilitation program for two weeks. Hence, he will miss the entire Sri Lanka series, according to the news agency PTI.
India Vs Sri Lanka: Rishabh Pant’s Recent performance
During the team’s recent 2-0 triumph over Bangladesh in a 2-match Test series, Pant was a major contributor. In the vital 4-match Test series against Australia in February and March, Pant will be essential to India’s hopes.
Rishabh Pant, who has been regularly participating in white-ball formats, was also selected for a three-match ODI series in Bangladesh in November but, purportedly due to fitness concerns, came home the day before the series began.

India vs Sri Lanka, BIG NAMES MISSING?
The team’s selection for the T20I series against Sri Lanka is interpreted as a hint of things to come because it also included senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, former captain Virat Kohli, and captain Rohit Sharma.
The vice-captain of the ODI team and the captain of the T20I team, respectively, are both Hardik Pandya. We’ll have to wait and see if Hardik has replaced Rohit as the primary T20I skipper.
