Harshal Patel News: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday confirmed that the pacer, Harshal Patel, has been ruled out of the fourth and fifth T20Is against West Indies due to an injury. The board said in a statement that Harshal is yet to recover from his rib injury and this is the reason behind him being ruled out of the series. It is important to note that Harshal did not feature in a single match in the ongoing T20I series.
Harshal suffered rib damage, and his recovery is yet incomplete. The medical staff is keeping a close check on him while he receives treatment, but he won’t play in the T20Is against the Windies.
“Harshal Patel has not fully recovered from his rib injury and is ruled out of the remaining two T20Is against West Indies,” the BCCI said in a statement.
The 31-year-old joined the team for the tour but has yet to participate in a T20I. With the Asia Cup 2022 scheduled to take place in the UAE this month, his absence is concerning.
Arshdeep Singh will remain a member of the starting XI in his place. In the little opportunities he has had, the left-armer has excelled, and he is now in front of Avesh Khan, another fast bowler.
Earlier, West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran chose to field after winning the toss against India in the fourth T20I. Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, and Ravichandran Ashwin were replaced by Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, and Ravi Bishnoi in India’s starting lineup. India’s team now holds a 2-1 advantage in the five-match series. In Florida, the fifth and final T20I will be contested on Sunday.
After Suryakumar Yadav played an unbeaten inning of 76, India won the third T20I by seven wickets. Under Shikhar Dhawan’s leadership, India had previously won the ODI series 3-0. The ODIs did not include players like Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, or Rohit Sharma.
