The new Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) will pick the next BCCI selection panel.
Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape join Sulakshana Naik in BCCI’s new CAC.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday, announced the appointment of its Cricket Advisory Committee. Which will see former India cricketers Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape doing the duties along with Sulakshana Naik.
This Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) will now choose the new national team selection panel.
“The three-member committee comprises Mr Ashok Malhotra, Mr Jatin Paranjape and Ms Sulakshana Naik. Mr Malhotra has represented India in 7 Tests and 20 One-day internationals and recently served as the President of the Indian Cricketers’ Association.
Mr Paranjape has played 4 ODIs for India and was part of the Senior Men’s Selection Committee. Ms Naik, who played two Tests, 46 ODIs and 31 T20Is for India in a career spanning 11 years. Continues to be a part of the three-member CAC,” the BCCI said in a statement.
What is CAC ( Cricket Advisory Committee )?
The three-member committee comprises Mr Ashok Malhotra, Mr Jatin Paranjape and Ms Sulakshana Naik will lead the CAC’s. The first job is to appoint three selectors for the men’s team. One of the posts is that of the chairman of the selection panel.
BCCI announces appointment of CAC members
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday, announced the appointment of its Cricket Advisory Committee.
The three-member committee comprises Mr Ashok Malhotra, Mr Jatin Paranjape and Ms Sulakshana Naik.
Mr Malhotra has represented India in 7 Tests and 20 One-day internationals and recently served as the President of the Indian Cricketers’ Association. Mr Paranjape has played 4 ODIs for India and was part of the Senior Men’s Selection Committee. Malhotra replaced former India seamer Madan Lal and Paranjape came in place of Rudra Pratap Singh, who has joined Mumbai Indians as a talent scout. Also, former women’s international Naik remained from the last committee.
Fromer Indian Players and national selector Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape will join Sulakshana Naik in the three-member cricket advisory Committee which will be entrusted with the duty of picking up the new selection panel later this month.
In November, the BCCI had sacked the entire selection panel headed by Chetan Sharma. The other members were Harvinder Singh, Sunil Joshi and Debasish Mohanty.
Despite his unceremonious dumping and adverse performance report after India’s semifinal debacle at the T20 World Cup.
Joshi and Mohanty have decided against reapplication.
Some of the prominent names to have applied are Nayan Mongia, Venkatesh Prasad, Maninder Singh, Shiv Sunder Das, Subroto Banerjee, Salil Ankola, Amay Khurasiya, Reetinder Singh Sodhi, Nikhil Chopra and Atul Wassan to name a few.
