Former BCCI president Saurav Ganguly set to continue as ICC Cricket Committee’s chairman
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah will represent the organization at the International Cricket Council (ICC). Despite the fact that Roger Binny, the new president of the BCCI, is also expected to participate, Shah will represent the Indian cricket board BCCI at the ICC Annual Meeting in Melbourne.
Although BCCI hadn’t yet made it public, it appears likely that BCCI Secretary Jay Shah will represent India at the ICC board unless he chooses to send Roger Binny there instead and stay a member of the Chief Executives Committee.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah who was in his early 30s when he took over as Secretary, with Sourav Ganguly serving as BCCI President. During the 88th Annual General Meeting of the BCCI, he got appointed as the Board’s representative to the ICC meeting.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah Jay will automatically be a member of the F&CA committee if he is the BCCI’s representative on the ICC Board. But now that BCCI is in charge of the F&CA, India hasn’t been in charge for a while.
During these sessions, BCCI CEO Rahul Johri represented the Board on behalf of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators, which was in charge of the organization’s management at the time (CoA). BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is the son of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee
Additionally, the global cricket governing body’s Finance and Commercial Affairs (F&CA) committee will likely be led by the BCCI’s representation on the all-powerful ICC Board. The F&CA committee has always been the most significant of all the ICC subsidiary bodies. Representatives of the BCCI aren’t really involved until former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly joined.
Former BCCI President
Sourav Ganguly, a former captain of India and BCCI President. Despite being clear about what his goals were, the BCCI did not nominate him to be the ICC Chairman.. But Ganguly is still under investigation by the ICC. He will remain the ICC Cricket Committee’s chairman. Along with PCB chairman Ramiz Raja, the group also includes Jay Shah and VVS Laxman from India.
Sourav Ganguly, the former BCCI president, may have lost hope of running in the ICC elections. He will, however, keep his position as chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee.
Next ICC Chairman
In terms of the race for chairman, incumbent Greg Barclay of New Zealand appears to be the front-runner. While there is a second contender who has submitted his nomination. The second candidate is unknown to the members. Imran Khwaja, a Singaporean, or Tevengwa Mukhulani, the head of the Zimbabwe cricket body, are the two candidates.
