Australia Squad For ENG and WI series
Return of Travis Head for England’s ODIs in the upcoming ODI series in Australia
Australia Squad For ENG and WI series: Australia squad for the next Test and ODI series have been released, with no significant shocks in the mix. The Australians will focus on the lengthier formats of the game when they play England and the West Indies at home after an early departure from the T20 World Cup. For the first time ever, Pat Cummins will lead the ODI team.
The news coincided with the unveiling of Australia squad for Test. Which included no adjustments from the group that played West Indies last summer, for the Frank Worrell Trophy match. After a successful start to the Sheffield Shield season. Marcus Harris stays in the red-ball group as the backup batsman, and Scott Boland serves as the fourth quick.
When will the series begin?
Beginning on November 17, Australia will play England in a three-match One-Day International series before playing West Indies in a test series.
However, the management of the bowlers will continue to be an interesting aspect. Australia will be led by Cummins in both formats. After the selectors decided not to bench him for his debut series as ODI captain.
George Bailey’s Comments
Chief of Selectors George Bailey said “Our focus is to continue to build a squad with an eye to next year’s World Cup 2023 under Pat Cummins as the new ODI captain. So it’s an important series, Travis Head returns in place of Aaron Finch. Having played well in Pakistan and Sri Lanka earlier in the year.”
“He has demonstrated flexibility in the types of roles he can play in our ODI line-up. Our next opportunity in the ODI format will be in India next year. Which will allow us to experience similar conditions as for the World Cup in October.”
