Who saved Rishabh Pant: While driving from Delhi to his birthplace of Roorkee on Friday morning. Team India wicketkeeper-bat Rishabh Pant was involved in a terrible vehicle accident. In order to visit his family before the new year, Pant traveled from Dubai back to India on Thursday. The young man crashed his Mercedes after falling asleep at the wheel and losing control of it, sending it careening into the divider.
As he was traveling on the opposite side of the street, Sushil noticed Pant’s car colliding and catching fire. Fortunately, a bus driver who goes by the name of Sushil Kumar was nearby when the tragedy occurred and he quickly acted to save the batsman.
Sushil Kumar’s Comments on Rishabh Pant’s accident
Bus driver went on to say that at first, because he does not follow cricket. He was unaware of Pant’s identity and that the conductor had to inform him that the patient is a representative of the Indian cricket team.
Sushil started off by saying “I am a driver with Haryana Roadways, Panipat depot. Our bus has left Haridwar at 4:25 in the morning. I was on my way when I saw a car, being driven at a lot of speed, got imbalanced and crashed into the divider. After the impact, the car landed on the wrong side of the road the one that goes to Delhi,”
“The car had screeched onto the second lane of the road seeing which I immediately applied the brakes. The car had already caught sparks so I and the conductor rushed to get him out of the car. By then the fire has started. Then, three more people came running and got him on the safe side,”
No one was ready to help at first says, Sushil Kumar
The rescuer further stated that calls to the National Highway Authority were unanswered and that no one offered to assist them in taking Pant to the hospital.
He quoted saying “We began to cry for help but no one came. I called the National Highway, but no one answered. Then I ran up to the police and the conductor called for an ambulance. We kept asking him if he is he fine. Offered him some water. After regrouping, he told us he is Rishabh Pant. I don’t follow cricket so I didn’t know who he was but my conductor then told me ‘Sushil.. he is an Indian cricketer,”
What happened after the cricketer was resumed from the burning car
Sushil Kumar and his conductor were the only live witness during the time of the incident. These transport workers made sure that even though they did not get much help, they themselves pulled him out of the car.
Sushil Kumar who saved Rishabh Pant said that “He [Pant] gave us his mother’s number. We called her but her phone was switched off. The ambulance arrived after 15 minutes and we got in him.”
“He had also scattered his money on the road, which we picked up and handed them to him in his hands. I asked him if he was alone in the car. He said there is no one. His face was covered in blood and his clothes were torn and his back was scratched. He was panicking and limping,”
BBCI’s Statement after the accident
BCCI in their official statement stated that “Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable. He has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment.”
Expected time for Full Recovery
It is anticipated that Rishabh Pant may require one to two years to fully recuperate and regain his previous level of fitness. It is heartbreaking to witness an outstanding player suffer an injury off the field. Being aware that Rishabh Pant is secure and alive causes some relief. Let’s hope that he recovers fast and give the strength to overcome his injuries.
