Will Virat Kohli become the fastest to reach 27000 international runs?

Virat Kohli is currently 58 runs away from reaching the milestone of 27000 international runs, and it is likely that Kohli will become the fastest to achieve this milestone in the upcoming 2-match test series against Bangladesh.

India legend Sachin Tendulkar currently holds the record of scoring fastest 27000 runs. He achieved that feat in 623 innings. While Virat Kohli, who has scored 26942 so far, has played 591 innings, and will be having plenty of innings’ time to break the record.

With India hosting Bangladesh (2) and New Zealand (3) for five home test games in September-October 2024, Kohli has the best chance to achieve this feat.

Apart from Sachin Tendulkar, only Ricky Ponting and Kumar Sangakkara have surpassed the 27000-run mark in international cricket.

Last year, Kohli also broke Sachin Tendulkar’s most ODI hundreds record during the ICC World Cup 2023 semi-final clash.
