Will Jasprit Bumrah Play In The 2nd Test against England?
India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah probably won’t appear for the second Test of India Tour of England 2025 at Edgbaston. Pacers Arshdeep Singh and Akashdeep Singh are contenders to replace Bumrah. Lets look into Will Jasprit Bumrah Play In The 2nd Test against England.
Arshdeep or Akash Deep To Replace Jasprit Bumrah
India has another concern to deal with in addition to losing their first Test to England at Leeds. The Shubman Gill and Company struggled with their bowling unit in the first Test. Moreover, India’s lead fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, was out of action in the last crucial overs against England. Later, the fast bowler was seen receiving a shoulder massage on the field. Fans speculated that Bumrah had sustained an injury again.
However, Shubman Gill, regarding the fitness concern of Jasprit Bumrah, claimed that the bowler is fit. In addition, he added that with 15 to 20 runs remaining to chase for England’s side, they wanted to give a chance to other bowlers. Furthermore, Shubman stated that there was enough time left for them to decide whether Bumrah would appear for the second Test or not.
In the case of Bumrah missing out on the second Test at Edgbaston, Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep are in strong contention. Akash Deep’s last outing with the Indian team was in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). He played against Australia in Melbourne and grabbed two wickets. Akash Deep has appeared in seven Test matches and taken 15 wickets with an average of 35.20. He delivered his best figure of 3/63 against England in his debut in 2024.
On the other hand, Arshdeep Singh is yet to make his debut in the longest format of cricket. Therefore, Akash Deep might have the chance to fill in for Bumrah with the experience that he holds.
