Venkatesh Prasad KSCA President Election 2025
Venkatesh Prasad to Contest for KSCA President’s Post
Former India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad has officially announced that he will be contesting the upcoming elections for the President’s post at the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). This marks a significant moment for Karnataka cricket, especially as the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium — one of India’s most iconic venues — has been deprived of hosting top-level international cricket since the RCB stampede incident. So let’s know about Venkatesh Prasad KSCA President Election 2025.
Prasad Promises Infrastructure Overhaul
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Prasad emphasized the dire need to upgrade infrastructure and facilities across all venues in the state.
He pledged to restore Karnataka’s cricketing pride and bring international matches back to Chinnaswamy, which recently missed out on hosting Women’s World Cup 2025 games and is not in the running for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
“It’s a responsibility to give it back to the association and youngsters. The infrastructure, dressing rooms, and facilities are in shambles. We need to develop it and bring more grounds into our fold. The most important thing is to get back international matches — we want to revive that glory,” said Prasad.
Kumble and Srinath Extend Support to Prasad
Former Indian legends Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath have publicly extended their support to Prasad’s campaign.
Kumble stressed the importance of unity and purpose in rebuilding Karnataka cricket, which he said has been “suffering” in recent times.
“What’s important is that we’ve all gathered here for cricket. Hats off to Venky for initiating this whole process. We’re here because we feel Karnataka cricket is suffering, and we want to make a difference,” Kumble stated in a KSCA release.
Srinath Calls for Accountability and Integrity
Meanwhile, Javagal Srinath emphasized the need for greater accountability within KSCA and urged that the association should be managed by those actively serving cricket in Karnataka, not by outsiders.
“One of the words I’ve coined is backseat driving syndrome, and that has to stop. When the KSCA has dignity and respect, there’s no need for anyone to control things from behind. It’s time for the focus to return to cricket and those who serve the game with integrity,” Srinath said.
Elections Set for November 30
The KSCA elections are scheduled for November 30, and the outcome could significantly impact the future of Karnataka cricket.
If Prasad’s team comes to power, there’s hope that international cricket will return to Chinnaswamy Stadium, reviving the lost glory of Bengaluru as a major international cricketing venue.
RCB’s Home Games at Risk for IPL 2026
The result of these elections could also determine whether Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) — the defending IPL champions — will be able to play their home games at Chinnaswamy Stadium next season.
If the infrastructure and security concerns remain unresolved, RCB may have to shift their home base to another city for the IPL 2026 edition.
