Indian fans had thought they finally got a captain who could take them back to winning ways, instead, the fans have started debating about his captaincy methods. So, should Rohit Sharma retire from test cricket after BGT 2024-25?

Rohit Sharma’s captaincy has backfired in the 4th test of BGT, with Australia closing in on the WTC final spot and also leading the BGT series by 2-1.

Sharma’s Decision-making

Rohit Sharma’s captaincy has triggered an increasing amount of criticism from fans following a series of poor performances and questionable decisions. After returning to the team as he missed out on the 1st test, he chose to bat in the middle order but failed in both the Adelaide and Gabba Tests.

After that, his decision to disrupt the successful opening pair of KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal, demoting Rahul to number 3, also backfired, as KL Rahul was dismissed for a duck. Rohit’s batting faltered, managing just 3 and 9 in combined innings of the 4th test. Furthermore, his decision to not select swing bowler Akash Deep raised concerns. With India down 2-1 in the series, his leadership is under question.
