Rishabh Pant or KL Rahul against Bangladesh?
After an exciting white-ball campaign over the last few months, team India is set to start their WTC 2025 final campaign once again.
Their first assignment will be a two-match test series against Bangladesh, starting September 19.
Team India will likely to field a full-strength team against Bangladesh, as part of their preparations to maintain their winning confidence ahead of important New Zealand and Australia series.
With nearly all departments seem sorted, who will play as main wicketkeeper batter in this series is a big question. Whether Rishabh Pant will make a comeback, or one among KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel make the cut as first choice-wicket?
Who will play as first-choice wicketkeeper for India in test series vs Bangladesh
With Rishabh Pant already made a complete comeback to competitive cricket, it is very likely that Pant will play as the first-choice wicketkeeper batter for India test series against Bangladesh.
Pant suffered a horrific car accident back in December 2022 and battled it hard to regain fitness. He missed cricketing action for over a year, and finally made a comeback in competitive cricket with IPL 2024.
He later joined India in the T20 World Cup 2024 and played a key role as a wicketkeeper batter in India’s World Cup winning campaign.
Pant also took part in India’s domestic cricket contest and scored a crucial 61-run knock against India A in Duleep Trophy.
Given his expertise and recent form, Pant can be seen play as the main wicketkeeper batter for India against the Bangla Tigers. Dhruv Jurel might be selected as the second wicketkeeper option in the squad.
KL Rahul, who handled the responsibility in Pant’s absence, kept the wickets in white-ball formats. While KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel were playing as wicketkeepers in test cricket.
