Jacques Kallis or Kumar Sangakkara: Who will be KKR’s new head coach?

Jacques Kallis or Kumar Sangakkara, KKR, a three-time IPL title-winning team, faced a significant change as Gautam Gambhir stepped down from his role as mentor to take on the position of head coach of the Indian team. Gautam Gambhir’s departure from Kolkata Knight Riders has created a significant void in the coaching team. Alongside Gambhir, Ryan ten Doeschate and Abhishek Nayar have also joined the Indian cricket team as part of the coaching staff, leaving KKR in need of a new head coach.

According to a report by Sangbad Pratidin, KKR is eyeing South African cricket legend Jacques Kallis to fill the mentorship role.

Other end reports suggest that KKR also looking for legendary Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara to replace Gambhir.

Earlier, Rahul Dravid was appointed as the new head coach of the Rajasthan Royals, replacing Kumar Sangakkara. It is reported that Sangakkara may remain with the team in a new role as the Director of Operations for the Rajasthan Royals. If this transition occurs, it may open up opportunities for Jacques Kallis at the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Jacques Kallis, a legendary former South African cricketer, played a pivotal role in the 2012 and 2014 IPL wins as a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir. Following his illustrious playing career, Kallis transitioned to the coaching staff of the KKR franchise in 2015, where he continued to contribute his expertise to the team’s success.
