Possible Comeback

Krunal Pandya’s potential comeback in India’s Asia Cup squad is a wildcard move by the selectors. The all-rounder, absent from T20Is since 2021, shone in IPL 2025, playing a pivotal role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s title win. His versatility with bat and ball, coupled with UAE’s spin-friendly conditions, makes him a strong contender.

The Ajit Agarkar-led committee seems keen to reward his recent form, adding depth to the middle order and spin-bowling options alongside Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy.

Bumrah and Gill’s Absence

Jasprit Bumrah’s participation hangs in the balance due to unconfirmed reports of a knee injury. Given his injury history, India may opt to rest him, with Harshit Rana as a likely replacement. Shubman Gill, despite scoring 650 runs in IPL 2025 and 754 in Tests against England, might skip the tournament due to a tight schedule before the West Indies Tests.

Mohammed Siraj, the leading wicket-taker in England, is also expected to be rested. The squad, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will rely on T20I regulars like Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Hardik Pandya to fill the gaps.

With possible injured players like Pant out of the scene, and upcoming talent like Sai Sudharsan potentially coming in the squad, India who has been a dominating side in the Asia region, will most probably continue to shine in the T20 format as well as in the Asia region as well, as the powerhouse in the world of cricket.
