Best Indian Batters on the Lords Pitch
Team India is set to play the third test of the India Tour of England 2025 at the iconic Lord’s Stadium, in London, England. After leveling the series with a dominating batting performance from Shubman Gill and his double century and a century in both the innings of the second test. We look at the best Indian batters on the lords pitch.
#1 Dilip Vengsarkar
He is still the only Indian with above 400-runs at the Lords pitch. What’s more surprising is he has only played 4 tests at the Lord’s. Whilst only playing four tests he managed to score 508 runs, with a staggering average of 72.57. Apart from this he has converted three of his 50+ scores into centuries, which shapes his stature as the best Indian on the pitch.
#2 Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid occupies the second spot on this list with 354 runs in seven innings at Lord’s. Featuring in four Tests, he averaged 59, registering two fifties and an unbeaten 103 in 2011 his only century at the pitch.
#3 Sunil Gavaskar
Sunil Gavaskar, one of India’s all-time greats, became the first Indian to cross 1,000 Test runs in England. At Lord’s, he accumulated 340 runs from 10 innings across five Tests, maintaining an average of 34. His contributions include two half-centuries, with his top score being 59. Notably, Gavaskar holds the record for most Test appearances at this iconic venue among Indian cricketers.
#4 Vinoo Mankad
Despite playing only two Tests at Lord’s, Vinoo Mankad made a significant impact with the bat. In just four innings, he amassed 333 runs at a remarkable average of 83.25. His tally featured three scores of fifty or more, with the standout performance being a brilliant 184 in the second innings of the 1952 Test. This remains the highest individual Test score by an Indian at Lord’s. With that in mind we hope Indian batters perform well in the upcoming test.
