CPL match highlights: Jamaica Tallawahs vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

In a rain-shortened match versus Jamaica Tallahwahs on Wednesday at Trinidad’s Queen’s Park Oval, St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots won easily by eight wickets.

St Kitts won the toss and decided to bowl first, batting first Brandon King and Kennar Lewis gave a good start for Jamaica Tallawahs where both of them scored 49 runs together, after Tallawahs lost both the wickets of their opener wicket kept falling and R Reifer came for rescue by scoring 40 runs in 26 balls helping Tallawahs reach a reasonable scored to defend. Rashid Khan was brilliant with his bowling performance; Rashid bowled four overs and gave away just eight runs and picked up one wicket.

After a rain delay at the midway point, the target was reduced to 113 in 15 overs. The Patriots capitalized on the new conditions, as most of their top-order batters contributed significant knocks.

Patriots openers, Andre Fletcher and Evin Lewis, had a huge partnership of 49 runs between them and set the stage. Darren Bravo’s innings of 39* from 21 balls subsequently added to that foundation.

Tallawahs spinners Fabian and Imad Wasim each took a wicket, but the Patriots were too strong on the day and won with more than two overs to spare.

Winning captain Dawayne Bravo after the press conference said “Good to get the two points after not the best starts. Credit to my bowlers for restricting JT to below 140. Darren just has to spend time in the middle, there is no pressure from me or the management. But today we won the game with the ball, Rashid Khan was brilliant. It has been a bumpy start for us, but we’re catching up well now.”

With a little more than two overs to spare, the Champions had chased down the target. The action eventually resumed, giving the Patriots a smaller lead after what felt like an eternity.
