CPL 2022: Barbados Royals beat Trinbago Knight Riders by 80 runs

CPL 2022 BR vs TKR: Barbados Royals maintained their winning streak in the tournament by defeating Trinbago Knight Riders by a whopping margin of 80 runs in the eighth match of the Caribbean Premiere League 2022.

Invited to bat, the dominated team since the start of the tournament once again showed their dominance after their openers Kyle Mayers and Quinton de Kock provided a solid start by adding 85 runs for the first wicket in just 9.2 overs.

Mayers was the when one, who was playing in destructive mode and recorded 52 off 33 before getting out. The skipper David Miller then walked into the field and took his team way ahead of the game.

De Kock got dismissed after playing a knock of 44. The skipper Miller smashed five fours and two sixes in his 60-run innings of 36 to take his team to 178 in 19 overs. Then Jason Holder took the charge and finished the innings on a positive note with a 4-ball 14.

Chasing a target of 195, Trinbago Knight Riders faced a dreary start and all of their batters got out cheaply, they lost half of their side at 33, while the team only managed to score 51 by the loss of 7 wickets in 8 wickets.

The game was not able to complete because of rain and ended in the 8th over of the second innings hand an 80-run win to Barbados Royals over Trinbago Knight Riders.

For Barbados, Oshane Thomas, Obed McCoy and Devon Thomas bagged 2-2 wickets each, while Jason Holder took a wicket each.

David Miller was awarded with the honour of player of the match for his blistering knock of 60 off 36.

With the win, Barbados retained their top spot with 3 wins in 3 games. While Trinbago Knight Riders, who won 1 game in 3 are on third position on the points table in a 6-team tournament.
