CPL 2020: Trinbago Knight Riders, Barbados Tridents Register Winning Starts

TKR and BT won the 1st and 2nd match:

In the 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League, Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and Barbados Tridents (BT) began the tournament with a winning note. In the 1st match of the league, Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) was defeated by TKR and in the second match, St Kitts and Navis Patriots (SNP) was defeated by BT. Both the matches were staged in Tarouba, Trinidad at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium, and Tobago.

In the inaugural match of the 2020 CPL, TKR beat GAW by four wickets, which was diminished to 17-overs a team because of rain. In this match, Sunil Narine displayed his terrific performance.

GAW batted first and made 144/5 with the help of Shimron Hetmyer’s unbeaten 63 runs in 17 overs. In return to that, Sunil Narine of TKR picked 2 wickets by conceding 19 runs in four overs.

Anyhow, TKR chased down the score with two balls to spare with the Sunil Narine’s half-century in just 28 balls. After the dismissal of Narine, TKR lost a couple of wickets but Dwayne Bravo managed the situation and ends the game with an edge in the last over of the game.

2nd Match:

In the second match of 2020 CPL, BT defeated SNP by six runs. in 20 overs, BT managed to make 153 runs with the loss of 9 wickets.

The captain of BT, Jason Holder made 38 runs and at the last part of the match, Rashid Khan made 26 runs and help to take the score of BT to over 150-runs mark.

To chased down the score of BT, Joshua Da Silva of SNP side made 41 runs, whereas Ben Dunk scored 34 runs. But this score was not enough as the team lost the match by six runs.

 

 1st match Scores:

Trinbago Knight Riders 147/6 (Sunil Narine 50, Darren Dravo 30, Naveen-ul-Haq 2-21) beat Guyana Amazon Warriors 144/5 (Shimron Hetmyer 63*, Ross Taylor 33, Sunil Narine 2-19) by four wickets.

 

2nd match Scores:

Barbados Tridents 153/9 (Jason Holder 38, Kyle Mayers 37, Rayad Emrit 2-16) beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots 147/5 (Joshua Da Silva 41, Ben Dunk 34, Mitchell Santner 2-18) by six runs.
