Harmanpreet Kaur after meeting with PM Modi, the captain of the Indian women’s team, expressed her happiness during her Saturday meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
At the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Harmanpreet and company took home the silver medal after falling to Australia in the championship match. It is the first women’s cricket competition in the history of the Commonwealth Games.
“Getting inspiration from the nation’s prime minister is really vital. When PM Modi speaks with us, it seems as though the entire nation is behind us and appreciates all of our efforts. It’s a significant victory for our cricket team, Harmanpreet told ANI.
The PM’s home served as the venue for the occasion. Along with the players and coaches from the teams, it was also attended by Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur.
Following his silver medal victory, PM Modi wished Harmanpreet Kaur and the other competitors.
Following India’s tight loss to Australia in the gold medal match, comments applauding the women’s team for their accomplishment flooded the internet. After the team’s performance at the event, PM Modi commended them as well.
“The two are inseparable: cricket and India. Throughout the CWG, our women’s cricket team played outstanding cricket and won the coveted silver medal. This award will always hold particular meaning because it was the first CWG medal ever given in cricket. Greetings for a successful future to each and every member of the team,” Modi had tweeted.
Even though, the country did not get a gold in the commonwealth games, it is still a moment of pride and honor that the female cricket team has come so far in terms of the recognition that it is getting. We could not imagine this kind of reaction ten ears ago but people have shown immense love and warmth to the women Indian cricket team.
