New Zealand and Canterbury all-rounder Andrew Ellis have announced his retirement he had started in the year 2002-03. In his carrier, he has played five T20Is in the year 2012- 13, and 15 ODIs.

Andrew Ellis is the only second player in the team of New Zealand, who played more than 100 matches in every format- 106 matches first-class, 133 List A and 127 numbers of T20Is.

Canterbury captain Cole McConchie said that “ Andrew Ellis has been the heart and soul of our team for a long period of time. I can’t forget coming into the team and he took me really and also the young players under his wings. He was very professional and his sacrifices here at Canterbury will stand at the test of time”.

He also added that “ From years, he has been a fantastic all-rounder for all of us and he has a great heart. After his retirement, he’ll be missed very much in the team. On behalf of the whole team, I just want to wish Ellis all the very best for life after cricket”.

In his tenure of 10 years of spending in the domestic cricket, he had to fight against five stress fractures in his lower back. In 2010 April, he had a surgery and finally get rid of this pain and joined the New Zealand national team.

He played his debut ODI match against Zimbabwe in 2012, February and continued to play a home series against South Africa before touring Sri Lanka and West Indies. He also played a home series against the team of England but there he managed to take only 12 wickets in 15 ODIs at an average rate of 35.41 and his best was 2 for 22.

Andrew Ellis was the only player who won the title Men’s Domestic Player of The Year two times by the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) in the year 2014-15 and 2016-17.  In his carrier 2016-17 was the top time for him as he won The Ford Trophy as well as The Plunket Shield in his primary year of captaincy.
