Can India Try These 3 Surprise Picks For T20 World Cup

Can India Try These 3 Surprise Picks For T20 WC: India overcame Pakistan in their opening game. They were challenged right till the end chasing an under-par score. India’s top order looked iffy-especially their openers. KL Rahul was dismissed for a blob in the first game. He spent more time in the middle in the next game but to no avail. His laborious 39-balls 36 didn’t provide the side any impetus. India’s bowling too hasn’t fired.

The worrying factor being apart from Bhuvneshwar Kumar none of the bowlers have looked lethal. There are a few chinks in this Indian team. They might not be able to escape in the coming games. The team will certainly benefit from the inclusion of a few X-factor players into the squad.

We look at 3 such surprise picks whom the Indian Team Can Look At

#3 Deepak Chahar

He holds the record for best bowling figures in T20Is. Deepak Chahar was one of the frontrunners for the T20 World Cup spot until an untimely injury upset his plans. Chahar is a skillful bowler. He is someone who picks up wickets with the new ball.

Chahar can dent opposition early in their innings. He has vastly improved as a death bowler too. What sets him apart from other Indian pacers is his ability to strike lusty blows at the death. He has already won India a couple of games with the willow. Chahar is certainly one of the contenders who could be picked in the World Cup squad.

#2 Shubman Gill

He isn’t an obvious choice at this point in time. Shubman Gill is nowhere near the radar for the T20 World Cup selection. But he can be the complete out-of-the-box solution that the team needs. Gill has shown an abundance of flair in ODIs and Tests. He currently strikes more than 100 in ODIs with the back-to-back player of the series awards.

Gill has experience playing in Australian conditions. He loves the pace and bounce on the ball. Gill played a stupendous role in GT’s title-winning campaign this year. He could replicate the same role for this aggressive Indian unit.

#1 Sanju Samson

He is one Indian batsman who embraced all-out aggression much before the team bought into the philosophy. Sanju Samson is a team player to the core. He always focuses on scoring high-impact runs rather than the volume of it.

Samson has finally combined his class with consistency. He could be the aggressor for the team in the powerplay. For someone who loves taking on the bowling right from ball one, Samson could be the ideal opener down under.

The verdict:

India has an interesting mix of options to choose from. Their World Cup campaign might well be decided with not whom they pick but with whom they don’t!
