Harshal Patel took 32 wickets for the RCB in the 2021 IPL. He also secured the Purple Cap after bagging a hat-trick against the Mumbai Indians. The speedy also tied Dwayne Bravo’s record for most wickets in a single IPL season.

Vettori, who has featured for several IPL teams, believes that bowling in the final overs is crucial for any side. According to the experienced, Harshal and Bumrah, can build the Men in Blue as a powerful unit.

You may have a specialist to bowl at the top: Vettori

“The ability to set up the back overs is so important in T20 cricket. If Harshal Patel has that ability, we obviously know that Bumrah does, it brings a whole new dynamic to how you map out your 20 overs,” Vettori said in an interaction.

“Your first six overs can be more attacking; you may have a specialist at the top because you know you have got those overs locked away at the back. There are not many bowlers who can do it and if India have two of Bumrah and Harshal, it sets them up for being such a formidable team,” he added.

Harshal was just handed a position on the Indian national squad. The pacer was named to the squad for the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand. He did not participate in the 1st game in Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium, however, he did make it to the 2nd match in Ranchi on Friday.

Mohammed Siraj, who hurt his finger in the 1st T20I on Wednesday, was succeeded by Patel. Harshal concluded with statistics of 4-0-25-2, which are impressive. Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips, who seemed dangerous after getting the start, were both bowled by the speedy.

Following defeating the Ranchi T20I by 7 wickets, India has established a commanding 2-0 series lead. On Sunday, the Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the 3rd T20I.
