BJ Watling Out Of 2nd Test Against England, With Back Injury

After failing to recover from a strained back, New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Watling ruled out of second Test against england here on Thursday.

Watling was replaced in the side by wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Blundell.

“The injury has troubled Watling in the past and although it has improved in the past 24 hours, it hasn’t improved enough to be confident of him getting through a full Test behind the stumps,” New Zealand Cricket said in a statement.

The 35-year-old Watling, said that he is going to retire from all the formats of cricket as soon as he completes the WTC Final against India. He has the best in 28 ODIs, 74 Tests and five T20Is for New Zealand in his cricket career. So, Watling ruled out of second Test against england

New Zealand will be excluded of regular captain Kane Williamson, who was also effected by his “irritated” left elbow before the WTC final on Wednesday’s evening of the match.

The two-test series was a tie in the opening match against England. Following the second Test, the Blackcaps will travel to Southhampton for the WTC final, which will begin on June 18.
